Global warming
If we have 10 years to save the planet from global warming and don't, we're all screwed anyway. Where does God fit into this?
And when the planet hosted only anaerobic life, was God there?
If you believe in intelligent design (which can't possibly explain G.Dubya) would you expect God to keep us as a species? Or are we as dispensable as green/blue algae or the dinosaurs?
Did dinosaurs pray? If not, was that their downfall?

James G. Watt (not to be confused with the one who actually advanced humanity into the steam age) Reagan's Secretary of Interior for a while (later indicted on 141 counts of fraud) was a Christianist.
He believed that Jesus was literally due at any minute, and would be seriously pissed if he saw us sitting around still surrounded by trees and lakes and other natural debris. It was up to us to "manage with the skill to leave enough resources for future generations". By ranching, loggin, and looting natural resources to get them, apparently.
On conservation and the Bush plan to loot America of every last drop of oil money possible:

It helps to understand that this is not a quaint and anachronistic point of view these days, but is actually high fashion in the White House, and up to a third of the US population.
Reagan himself is oft remembered for saying most pollution was caused by trees.
Lately though, there have been stirrings of greeness for political, if not theological purposes. Even Pat Robertson has allegedly come around to the truth of global warming, as has the POTUS.
What part they think global warming plays in the plans of their just, loving, and merciful god one can only guess.
Bloody hell! Scary stuff. I need a drink to get over this information because the scariest part of all this is I have no problem whatsoever believing you. What does that say about the biggest global power?
